How to do you get one: You can walk into then nearest Association of America (AAA).
What do you need: I got one for my recent trip to Tokyo 07/2019 and all AAA required are two passport photos(you can get the photos taken at the AAA office) and $20 for the fee. I walked in and out, twenty minutes max.
